Yes, it would. I think the solution here is to reserve a room in one  
of the 15 or so Public Libraries in the San Diego area. I've already  
researched it, there is a plethora of options as far as room  
capacity, all have free wireless, and alcoholic beverages are permitted.

I'll get some location options put together and post back ASAP.
